Vinyl Floor Covering

Vinyl flooring is a durable floor covering that is typically installed in kitchens and bathrooms, but works well in other areas as well. Caring for a vinyl floor is similar to caring for other flooring types. In particular, sand can scratch the surface, which dulls the appearance of the vinyl over time. However, with the proper care, your vinyl flooring will retain its appearance for many years.

How to care for Vinyl covering

1 Sweep the vinyl floor once or twice per week to remove all sand and dirt from the surface of it. You can use a push broom or a vacuum , as long as the vacuum does not have a beater brush on it.
2 Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water and add 1 to 2 full caps of a "no-rinse" floor cleaner.
3 Insert a mop into the bucket and wring it out to remove most of the moisture. Mop the surface of the vinyl floor rinsing the mop often. Allow the vinyl floor to dry completely before walking on it. Re-mop the floor at least once per week.
4 Pour a vinyl floor polish into a bucket using the amount instructed on the bottle for your size floor. Apply the polish in long, even stokes using a sponge mop. After the floor is coated, allow it to dry completely. Apply two to three coats of floor polish for the best protection.
5 Lay area rugs in the major traffic areas of the room to protect the vinyl floor from damage, especially at any doors that open to the outside. Do not use rugs that have a rubber backing since these can degrade and stain the vinyl.
