Which Wall Paper Design is for me?

It is best before you decide to put up wall paper, that you already have an idea of what kind of theme or ambiance you want to create.

Children room: If you have small children then you may want to go for cartoon characters wall papers. We have a selection of Disney princess collections, famous cartoon characters like NEMO as well as the evergreen Mickey Mouse collections. If your children are older, then you may want to go for a more girlish (flowered design) or boyish (abstract design) design.

Living area: This is the room where you entertain your guests so you may want to bring out either an Elegant, English, Modern, Natural, Subtle or your own specified theme. Once you have decide on this, then we can narrow down the type of wall paper that you should concentrate on in choosing.

Audio/Study/Dining area: This is the room where the activity is specific and therefore the wall paper you choose should enhance and stimulates this activity. You may want to avoid very strong design and colours for a study area but you may be able to play with a more vibrant design and colour for an audio room.

The above are the general guidelines in choosing wall papers. But you can always create your own style with wall papers and not stick with any guidelines.  Let your imagination and creativity runs when deciding for a wall paper.

How to Order?
If you would like to put up wall paper (also known as wall cover) at your home, please give
me a call at 0192095383. Below are the steps to choose the wall paper and how to place
an order:

1.   We can meet up. We can meet at a public place or at the comfort of your home.  I will bring sample books of the wall papers that we have for you to choose from.

2.   Choose the wall paper and I will measure the walls that you want to put the paper at or you can tell me the measurement of your walls..

3.   The following day, I will pass you a draft quotation either via email, fax or sms.

4.   Once you are agreeable with the pricing, we can proceed to the next step to secure the paper you wanted. To secure your chosen paper, you will need to place a 50% deposit.

5.   I will book the paper for you and we can discuss the best time for the installer to come to your home to install the paper. Depending on the wall size of your wall, the installation time may take half day or more.

6.   Once installation have completed, the remainder of the wall paper prices need to be settled.

Prior to Installation:

• Examine each roll to be sure the product is what was ordered. All rolls must have the same production number. Hang in sequence as cut from bolt. No adjustment or claim will be considered because of variation in color or shading once material has been cut.
• The Paperhanger assumes full responsibility when he/she cuts the wallpaper supplied. Positively no allowance for cut rolls and claims for labor will NOT be entertained.
• Carefully Inspect the installation after applying three strips before proceeding. If, at any time during the installation, a discrepancy occurs, stop. Contact the designer or innovations before proceeding.
• Avoid folding or creasing that may create markings on the product.
• Material should be hung with the same top - not reversed.
• Material is not pre-trimmed.

Wall Preparation:

• Proper wallpaper preparation is essential. Generally walls must be smooth and clean. Wallcoverings will not adhere well to dirt, soap or grease. Clean the walls with household detergent or with a solution of six parts water to one part ammonia and rinse with clean water.
• It is recommended to remove all old wallcoverings.
• Always turn off the electricity and remove any switch plates, wall fixtures, outlet plates, etc., before you begin to hang the paper.
• When applying wallpaper over plaster walls, always smooth out any rough spots with a sander and fill any holes or cracks with patching plaster or spackling compound.
• Always apply wallcovering primer prior to installation. This ensures an even surface for the wallpaper to adhere making it easier to hang and remove later on.
• Apply a single coat of pigmented sealer on new and unpainted walls followed by wallcovering primer or sizing, such as Romans R-35 or Zinsser Shields Plus

Wall Application:

• Trim glass beaded wallcovering on the table, not on the wall.
• Trim from back with a paper hanger's straight edge cutting only the backing material, not attempting to cut through the glass beads. Once the backing material is cut, the selvage or excess can then be pulled away like a zipper and discarded. It is not necessary that this line be absolutely straight.
• Apply professional grade pre-mixed clear vinyl adhesive.
• Use a new blade after each cut.
• Use a soft bristle brush after trimming with a single edge razor blade.
• A wooden seam roller is recommended for the seams.
• Small gaps may be present and is part of the installation. Seams will be visible and placement of seams and joints should be worked into the architecture.
• Let any excess paste dry. Then dried paste may be flaked off with a vinyl sweep or terry cloth.
• Surface of glass beads can be wiped with a cloth dampened with a clear Windex or other clear glass cleaner.
• The non-woven backing for the wallcovering is highly flexible and can be installed on both inside and outside corners. In situations where there is a tight corner or surface that is not square create a template.

How To Hang Wall Mural

Wall Application:

 

• This mural does not come with paste as it has been discontinued. You will need to use a clear non-staining adhesive, diluted with 10% water.

• Measure up the mural against your wall. Take into consideration where furniture will be placed. The motif has been selected so that the mural can be cut both in the width and height without losing any of its effect.
  - For example, if your wall is 30cm short in width, cut 1 5cm off of the left and right side. Remember that it will stretch by 1% approximately when wet.
• Now spread paste liberally on panel #1 according to the sketch; allow setting for at least one minute before applying the panel to the wall. Handle with care when wet to avoid any damage, and do not fold panel.
• When panel is correctly lined up, press out air bubbles with a clean wallpaper brush or dry cloth, working from the center outwards. Small air bubbles will disappear when the mural has dried out.
• Wipe off any surplus paste from the panel surface with a soft damp cloth.
• Prepare panel #2, and apply to the bottom of panel #1. Overlap panel #1 by approximately 2mm evenly along the horizontal edge. Be sure to align panel #2 exactly.
• Panel #3 overlaps right of panel #1 by about 2mm. Repeats for remaining panels
  and the job is done!
  • 
    The above instructions refer to normal wall surfaces using clear non-staining adhesives, at room temperature. For difficult or wall surfaces and extreme climate conditions consult your local painter or wallpaper dealer for best paste to use.
  • 
    All normal wall covering paste can be used with Design Your Wall murals. The manufacturer's instructions must always be carefully followed.
